Hunters Nab Massive Alligator to Break Mississippi State Record

Aug. 30 (Odd News Media) -- Wildlife officials in Mississippi said a group of hunters set a new state record by bagging an alligator measuring more than 14 feet long.
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks said alligator program coordinator Ricky Flynt certified the gargantuan reptile, measuring 14 feet 3/4 inches long, broke the previous state record by half an inch.
The alligator weighed in at 766.5 pounds, had a belly girth of 69 inches and a tail girth of 43 inches.
The alligator was killed in the Southwest Alligator Hunting Zone by hunters Brian Burnside, Colby Acy, Stephen Brady and Anthony Acy.
